We want YOU to Join us!

We’re building a space focused on the unique needs of the residents here in Aserradores, Nicaragua. Our goal is to uplift residents and ensure equal opportunities for growth and prosperity. Our current locally run programming has begun to tackle this issue but a lack of suitable space to host programming creates barriers to access.

Vamos Pues!

Dream it.

Mujeres Que Mueven began in Aserradores, Nicaragua in June of 2018 with a group of just three women taking the time to care for themselves, through exercise, amidst what was an extremely chaotic moment for Nicaragua. As the group grew, founder Drew Reinhardt was inspired by the members motivation to learn about themselves and their health and their desire to share that knowledge with their families and the community. Nutrition and cooking classed were added to the schedule but the need for more was clear. While we believe self care is the first step in harnessing your personal power, there is so much more we can offer to support the women in our community. Personal development and community building through women’s nights and workshops facilitated by Nicaraguan women from other areas followed. But what do the women of our community need to truly feel empowered? The answer to that question is what led to the development of Casa Armonía. And we can’t wait to make that dream a reality!

Build it.

Casa Armonía is the next step in serving the greater mission of Mujeres Que Mueven. We are inviting you to take part in this incredible journey by helping us fund and build a community center that will serve our community in the ways we need it most. A community space will give life to our project and a tangible representation of hope and the future to our community. With the construction of this center, there is no end to the possibility of what we can offer our community together.

Community education in conjunction with our sister project, entrepreneurship projects, skills training, counseling and other clinical services which are now only accessible by a two hour bus ride to the city.

For more detailed objectives, vision and project goals, find out more below.

Grow it.

MQM as it currently stands is bursting at the seams! We’re running out of space for classes, equipment and members! Our current workout space only suits about 10 members safely. And with no protection from sun or rain, our stone surface gets slick, preventing us from keeping a schedule during rainy season. Consistency is key in developing habits, we need to give our members a safe space to learn so that they can have the best chance at sticking to their new lifestyle changes. Our founders kitchen is overrun by kids! Doubling as a child care space during class times, it’s currently the only enclosed space we have to keep kids safe while mom works on herself. A new support we are providing for our mothers. We are running at full capacity, but if we want to GROW our program and help as many women as possible, foster our female entrepreneurs as well as create sustainable jobs and revenue, this community center is VITAL.

Our Vision: Casa Armonía

MQM + TLC are already creating lasting impact through their current programs. To learn more about exactly how we plan to expand that impact exponentially through Casa Armonía click below.

Why is this space so important?

Here in Nicaragua, especially in rural communities, like Aserradores, a fishing community where all the work is male oriented and where women play a traditional social role, women’s only spaces are hard to come by. The challenges that face women are unique, such as the responsibility to bring water to the home in a hand pushed cart from community wells for doing all of daily washing and cooking needs of the household, and women often go underserved.
Our space will:

  • Serve as a facilitiy equipped to support their learning and growth by assisting in child care.

  • Provide transportation or bring vital services vital services, which are typically not located in the village.

  • Serve as a space for community building and a representation of hope for the future

“Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for animals in Northern Nicaragua through accessible spay and neuter clinics, responsible pet ownership education, and fostering a culture of compassion and respect. “

Working Together to create meaningful impact!

“It takes a village!”

One of the most exciting and perhaps the most important aspects of Casa Armonía is our vision to work together with smaller initiatives in our community to give them the structure they need in order to further their mission. We believe that by working together as one large non-profit, instead of functioning independently, we can create more impact and more successfully raise funds and awareness for our vision to keep the greater community of Aserradores on a path to success. Amigos Animal Rescue

Amigos Animal Rescue is Casa Armonía’s first local partner. We are supporting this initiative by providing a bank account, a way to receive and send donations through PayPal as well as access to shared resources received through our current fundraising and grant activities.

In return, the dedicated volunteers of Amigos Animales have board responsibilities which support fundraising, awareness and grant writing in order to work together as a team to receive funding for all initiatives in the Casa Armonía umbrella.

Amigos Animal Rescue plans to achieve these goals by:

  • Hosting free spay and neuter clinic which provides the surgery as well as after care.

  • Community outreach: Visiting local schools with members of their community to educate children and young adults on how to treat animals with love and care.

  • Grants to provide basic healthcare to the animals of this area. We would like to offer vaccines and treatments for common illnesses.

We need your help!

As we are currently running all of our services out of the home of our founder, having a community space would allow us to not only greatly increase the services we offer but to give this community a tangible representation of hope and the future. A space that is dedicated especially to and for them, and built WITH them to make sure we address their specific needs and desires. Mujeres Que Mueven welcomes you to be part of that mission

With the building of this community center we hope to:

  • Increase support for our classes in health, exercise, nutrition and healthy cooking.

  • Provide the tools and space we need to teach healthy cooking and offer a clean equipped space for local entrepreneurs to create food goods to sell in the community.

  • support other smaller initiatives with a structure to help them further their mission and better serve the community .

  • Deliver training workshops for trades to promote the economic and financial independence of women in the community.

  • Offer psychological consults and counseling to promote well being.

  • Provide child care, giving women time and peace of mind while they continue build their own future

  • Create sustainable jobs and initiatives that would provide revenue for our non-profit organization to increase our ability to serve our mission.
