Mujeres Que Mueven is a 501(c)(3) non-profit located in Nicaragua that inspires and empowers women to better self-manage their health through movement, education, group support, and dietary awareness.

Our mission is to contribute to the overall well-being of the community by assisting in the achievement of individual goals, revitalizing the mind/body connection, providing education for preventative measures against diseases of malnutrition, and cultivating a supportive community around self advocacy for wellness.

We aim to improve the lives of women in this community through:

  1. Increased understanding of nutrition and healthy cooking

  2. Adoption of healthy changes in lifestyle

  3. Improved overall health and fitness

  4. Access to a women-only space to learn, grow and support each other

We aim to improve the lives of all in the community through:

  1. Enabling women to be seen as an example of fitness and health

  2. Adoption of healthy changes across the community

  3. Change in attitude, making healthy living “cool”

  4. Lowering of disease across the community

We are located in Aserradores, Nicaragua.

Aserradores is located in northern Nicaragua, 60km outside of Chinandega. It is a small village made up of approximately 2,000 residents. The primary sources of income are male-focused in fishing, construction, food production and sales. Overall Nicaragua has very low income, often with little or no access to clean water. Life can be difficult in Aserradores, and Mujeres Que Mueven aims to help the women in this community lead healthier and happier lives.

Watch us challenge the status quo.

Hear from Mujeres Que Mueven founder and President, Drew Reinhardt, about how she came to start this project that blossomed into a safe space for women take control of their health and lives in a small Nicaragua community.
